What is CoinCycling?
A combination of Adware and other malware, CoinCycling presents a very real threat to unaware users. Initially it simply generates innocuous ads on the users system, the occasional popup, a flashy banner or amusing animated character. Every time the user clicks on or allows the ad to run, a small amount of cash is paid to the account of the hacker who made the virus. It’s a fairly profitable business for hackers and criminals, and can initially feel like a victim-less crime. Hackers will often use their illicitly acquired money to bribe freeware and shareware developers into bundling their malicious software alongside the original program. The developers are legally allowed to do this, as long as they mention ‘third party apps’ in the EULA- the terms and conditions that almost all users will ignore when they download and install new programs. Since the hackers can claim that CoinCycling is simply an innocent ad revenue generator, many developers will be fooled into thinking that it’s all above board, and that there is no risk of legal or moral repercussion from selling out to the ‘third party’. Always be wary of freeware and shareware- the developers of such software can often be misled by hackers posing as business entities, or simply act through willful ignorance in the face of some easy money.
CoinCycling has refined itself over the years into a piece of adware that is near-impossible to detect or recognize by all but the most experienced users. Initially it will generate income for hackers by activating occasional adverts when the user is at their machine, a small fee is anonymously paid to the hacker’s account for each view or click that an ad receives. Because so many users will download and install freeware and shareware online, the hacker will have access to a huge pool of potential victims. Sometimes the hacker may become greedy, and initiate extra installations of other malware, such as keyloggers and spyware- these allow the hacker to glean information, passwords, banking details, SSN’s and anything else that is stored or used on the users machine. Once this valuable data is uploaded to the cloud, the hacker may access it at will, and either sell-on or misuse whatever the program has found for them!

Step 1: Uninstall CoinCycling Related Apps or unwanted apps From Mac.
- Open the Finder
- Go to the Application folder
- Move unneeded applications to Trash
- Enter your password if requested.

Step 2. Remove CoinCycling Related Extension or unwanted Extensions from Safari, Chrome and Firefox on Mac.
Delete Safari Extension
- Launch Safari
- Click on the Safari menu and choose Preferences.
- Select the Extensions pane
- To delete an extension completely, click on it, then in the main window, choose Uninstall.
Delete Chrome Extension

Delete Firefox Extension
